What are we about ...

mikroglas chemtech GmbH, is based in Mainz, on the Rhine, and was established in February 2004. The company is specialised with great success in the production of micro-technological products made of glass.

Because of its outstanding good properties, glass offers a wide range of opportunities in micro-technology; the product range stretches from micro-titerplates made of glass, which can be used in such fields as DNA or protein analysis, to micro-reaction systems for the manufacture of chemical and/or pharmaceutical products.

mikroglas produces both prototypes for research purposes and large unit quantities for industrial use. New approaches are being produced almost every day to the solution of problems arising from the break-neck pace developments in the technical field of micro-technology.

Specialists from different branches of technology are working together under the flag of mikroglas.

What we can do for you:

  • We show you how to use microtechnological components.
  • We support you on the development of new glass based products.
  • We manufacture products for you according to your individual requirements.
mikroglas`s product range is wide and consists of components that are used in different technological areas:
  • biotechnology: mikroglas titerplates, lab-on-a-chip components
  • micro process technology: mikroglas mixers, reactors, heat exchanger, mikroSyn lab systems
  • sensors and electronics: exhaust sensors, temperatur sensors, elektronic  packaging
  • display technology: components for X-ray scanners and plasma screens, glass fibre guides

FOTURAN®,  a photosensitive glass, is the main material mikroglas works with. Additionally, all other glasses normally found in microtechnology, such as silicon-bondable glasses: BOROFLOAT® and PYREX® or thin glasses: AF45 and D263 are used. All glasses mentioned before are also offered for sale.

mikroglas offers all their services not only for prototyping but also for large-scale production. For production the most modern devices of microtechnology are available. The technical equipment covers photo-lithographic devices (e.g. varnish, exposure and development systems) just like furnaces, corroding and cleaning equipment, screen printing systems, as well as devices for quality assurance.

We also have systems for mechanical glass handling, e.g. sharpening-/lapping-/buffing machines, saws and wing tip edging systems and operate with different connection techniques (bond, stick), which permits to connect structured glass with other materials. Additionally, different coatings of the glasses can be executed, e.g. the applying of conductive strips, the production of thin diaphragms or galvanising of metal executions.

Developing new products is not only the work of individuals. mikroglas works closely together with research institutes, young, innovative high-tech firms and established international companies. mikroglas has managed to build up a world-wide sales network focusing on the US, European and Asian markets.
